Only me…

First off, I’d like to apologize for not posting much in the last month. I’ve been busy trying to get my group moving a little more than usual.

I’ve also been diving head-first into MYTH, developing the other characters further. I’ve figured out that either I’m going to write the next lord of the rings, or I’m never going to write the fucking thing. One of the two… I’m personally pulling for the first choice.

Secondly, and related to the first, I want to introduce you to a new poster I’ve created for the first book of MYTH:

Before you ask… yes, I did make it. Yes, it was from scratch (except the background which was a stock HDRI panorama image I set as an illuminated environment). And yes, I am ridiculously excited about it!

The content depicts the gear used by Andial, the leader of the Golden Guard and chaperone to the young Priestess, Claire. He’s a regal born Aelphi given the conflicting honor and punishment of leading the most heralded group of abominations in existence.

You’d want to hide your face behind a scary golden mask too, huh?

Well, that’s not why he has the mask…

I’ll leave it at that.

Boyd’s Project – Concept 1

A friend of mine by the name of Boyd sent me some info on a project he’s working on. I thought it was fascinating ,with a lot of potential.

Boyd is an interesting one, himself. He comes from an entirely different perspective than I do. I stay as far away as I can from things that may influence my pool of inspiration while he tends to immerse himself in them.

I’ve been developing Myth by bouncing things off of a lot of people but few have been quite as readily available and immediately responsive as he has. He has a knack for being as blunt as possible. He’s always been able to give me real feedback I can use rather than fluff-balled reflections of my own thoughts that a lot of others are more than willing to throw at me.

So, for that, I agreed to help him with his concept, of which I’m going to tell you nothing at all… because it’s not mine. See how that works there? xD

You only get my end of the deal. You get what I send back.

And up there, right above this line you’re reading, is what I sent back to him the day after he gave me some info on his main character.

The character is his but the smoke-cape and the sword effect is mine. I thought it’d be interesting for the character to use his own smoke emission as an accessory. The sword is a more practical addition… It’s metal, metal heats up when in contact with fire… To me, that’s a gimme.

Myth Concept – Nikko’s Dagger

This has far more of a place in the backstory… but it allows me to show you an example of improvement in the design process just within the few years I’ve been using 3D software to create weapons for the projects.

Here is the original:

Kayle’s Crystal Saber

The ill-fated general Kayle had a single prized possession. It’s a high-grade, customized crystal officer’s sword given to him personally by the Aelphi’s Lord Obeiron.

The history of the emission-crystal technology is a special one. It was stolen. Read the rest of this entry

Myth Concept 3 – Nikko’s Scitex

There is a weapon known in myths. It is always an ultimate, always terrible, always sought after.

Eons ago, there was the archetype, the original horror. It was held in the hands of a murderous nightmare, fighting against the unending waves of blood-lusting invaders.

Made from the pure energy stolen from the beginning source. Inside this ethereal shell was a link to a dark, hungry void. Nothing escapes it. Once it is wielded, nothing lives.
